The importance of having keywords in a domain name has changed significantly over the years. While at one point in time, domains with keywords were ranking better because they were considered more relevant to the search terms people used; nowadays keywords in domain names are no longer as important for SEO.
The reason behind this change is that Google realized many people were taking advantage of it and stuffing their domain names with keywords, only to provide content that had low quality. Once Google caught on, they started implementing changes. As Matt Cutts explained, the key to having a well-ranking website has become less about having certain keywords in the right places and more about having great content that people actually want. That means that even if you opt for a short domain name without any keywords, you can still achieve great SEO results.
Keywords are, of course, still very important, but they should not be the primary focus of your domain name and your future website.
